Beattie triumphs at Aberdeen beach course
Craig Beattie (Metro Aberdeen) recorded a personal best 16min 54sec to hold off Michael Watt (Aberdeen AAC) by 1sec to take first official position in the Aberdeen parkrun 5km when both finished a few strides behind an unregistered runner.
Beattie’s time was a 48sec improvement on his previous best for the beach promenade course while teenager Watt slashed 41sec off his old standard.
Scotland junior international hill runner Anisha Badial (Aberdeen AAC) set her best time of 18:59 when leading home the women’s division when taking 11th place overall from 327 runners while runnerup Sarah Milne (Metro Aberdeen) clocked her quickest time of 19:59.
Craig Park led the way in the Hazlehead parkrun in 19:37 while Aberdeen AAC youngster Caitlin Purcell was first woman in 20:57.

18:49 with Victoria Presly first woman in 23:27. Graeme Gardner improved his best time to 19:12 at Stonehaven where Gemma Rowbotham led the women’s division in 24:26. l Teenager Eldon Wigram was first at Bressay with a personal best 19:13 while Shetland’s Scotland ultra-distance international Charlotte Black led the women’s field in 19:44.
Veteran Kevin Cormack (North Highland Harriers) was first at Thurso in 17:39 with Jules Taylor first woman in 26:52.
Gordon Lennox (Inverness Harriers) took first place at Alness when recording 16:45 with Catherine Murton heading the women’s field in 22:54.
There was a personal best of 18:07 for David Bull at Inverness where Megan Bee was first woman in 21:06, 1sec ahead of her Highland Hill Runners clubmate Rhona Grant.
Andrew Nunney was first at Aviemore in 19:14, where Sarah Hodgkinson was fastest woman in 20:45.
