DUMBARTON

David Hopkin has urged his whole squad to stay focused on trying to win a dream promotion for Livingston – or a move away to a bigger club.

The Lions have confounded expectations this season after coming into the Championship as League One winners and sealed second spot with two games to spare at the weekend.

Hopkin now has the luxury of rotating his squad for tonight’s home clash with Inverness Caley Thistle and Saturday’s trip to Dundee United.

However, the Almondvale boss, who has had to extend deals for Nicky Cadden and Josh Mullin to cover the play-offs, is desperate to avoid his players becoming distracted by thoughts of next term.

And he insists if any have made up their mind to leave the club this summer, they now have the perfect opportunity to catch the eye in the forthcoming play-offs.

He said: “We’ve got a squad of 20 players, who are all capable of playing in any team I pick.

“I had a chat with the players before Saturday’s game and told them I need

“Opportunity for them to go and express themselves”

everybody on board for the next three weeks.

“We need to make sure everybody stays focused.

“Things might change and players might want to leave in the summer but I’ve had a lot of the players here for the last two or three years and they all know how I work.

“I’ve always said if anybody wants to leave Livingston for a bigger and better club then they go with my blessing.

“But, if you want to leave Livingston and get a better club, there’s no better opportunity than playing in front of the TV cameras in a couple of weeks’ time.

“It’s a massive opportunity for them to go and express themselves, and every player is looking forward to it.”
