Rose may still get chance to flourish in final

-

Motherwell retain hope that midfielder Andy Rose could still make the Scottish Cup final despite fracturing his collarbone.

Rose was expected to miss the Hampden clash with Celtic on May 19 after suffering the injury during a goalless draw with Ross County on Saturday but an initial prognosis has given him a glimmer of hope.

Curtis Main suffered a wrist injury on Saturday but initial X-ray tests showed no fracture and there is little fear of the striker missing the showpiece match.

A club statement read: “Andy Rose suffered an injury to his clavicle during the 0-0 weekend draw with Ross County.

necessary for him to be out and are, at this stage, still hopeful he will make the Scottish Cup final.

“Curtis Main was also injured during the game in Dingwall. The striker had an X-ray on his wrist on Monday which didn’t show any initial fracture.

“He will undergo further tests this week to determine the extent of the injury but is not expected to spend long on the sidelines.

“Carl McHugh also damaged his front teeth during the match with County and had dental treatment on Monday.”

Motherwell are missing two strikers for the final, with George Newell waiting to find out if he needs surgery on a fractured cheekbone, while loan forward Nadir Ciftci cannot play against his parent club.

There was better news for manager Stephen Robinson yesterday, with defender Peter Hartley returning to light training after almost four months out with a foot injury.
