Moderator on week-long trip to Highlands
The Moderator of the Church of Scotland said he was “looking forward” to his week-long visit to the Ross Presbytery in the Highlands.
The trip is part of the annual duties of Moderator the Rt Rev Dr Derek Browning and started on Sunday in Culbokie on the Black Isle. In various parishes he will visit some of the 21 churches as well as local groups, schools, businesses and charities.
The visit will culminate with a Songs of Praise evening service at Strathpeffer Church next Sunday.
Dr Browning will deliver a short message and presentation to the Rev Roddy MacKinnon and Pat Cameron – both having served the church as minister and Sunday school teacher for 50 years.
He will be attending a range of engagements during his trip and in one event will be rowing in a race against a local minister across Loch Broom.
Dr Browning said: “One of the important parts of the moderatorial year is to visit four presbyteries across the country.
“I am looking forward to my final visit, to the Presbytery of Ross. As well as taking services in a number of churches, it will be fascinating to meet the people living in this part of our country, and to learn more about their work and their faith.”
