Thoughts turn to summer as transfer business begins

- BY DAVID SUTHERLAND

As the season comes to an end, it’s not unusual for fans of all football teams to wonder about what changes will happen at their club over the summer.

Players will come and players will go, as they always have, and we all hope that what we end up with is better than what went before.

That’s easier said than done here in Inverness where there has always been a queue of clubs looking to pinch our best players with the offer of more money. For some who have gone it has worked out well, but for the majority they can’t have enjoyed their football as much often sitting on a bench week after week, though their bank balance will have been healthier.

So nobody is surprised about suggestions of possible interest from Hearts in Jake Mulraney and Dunfermline making offers to Iain Vigurs.

They may stay and they may go but life will go on at ICT and there is no guarantee we would be weaker without them. I’m in no rush to see any particular player leave but it is good to see the manager start his summer shopping early.

Welcome to Caley Thistle, Angus Beith. I hope your time here is successful.

With a number of unlikely events required for Inverness to make the play-offs, they headed to Livingston last night to face a team that has done really well this term after promotion from League 1.

After a competitive but goalless first half, the game quickly sparked into life after the break when Liam Polworth scored for Inverness.

It turned out to be the only goal of the night and it keeps our outside chances of reaching the play-offs alive.

I can see Inverness going to Morton and winning on Saturday but I struggle to see Dumbarton winning at Dunfermline to move us up to fourth place.

“Hope we end up with better than before”
