Paul O’Grady for the Love of Dogs: India

It’s well known that Paul O’Grady is a dog lover, but while filming this series, he proved he’s even put his life on the line for his fourlegged friends. He was stricken with a near-fatal infection, which he believes he picked up while handling wounded pooches, and had to be rushed to hospital in New Delhi for life-saving treatment. However, it’s the canines whose health is the focus in the first episode as Paul travels to Delhi to meet the heroes who look after the city’s estimated 400,000 street dogs. His first destination is Friendicoes, the city’s oldest dog shelter which opened in 1979.
