Adrian’s cocktail is a reel winner

An Aberdeen barman has won the first leg of a cocktail competition.

Orchid bar manager Adrian Beggs won the Edinburgh heat of the Shetland Reel distillery competition.

Competitors created their own unique drinks with gin as the key component.

Judge Stuart Nickerson said that Mr Beggs’ drink was a “unanimous choice of the three judges to go forward.

“He managed to capture all the elements of the competition that we were looking for and links to Shetland.”

Mr Beggs’ cocktail, called Hallowed Calling, incorporated cordial, tea and Shetland Reel Original Gin.

The final of the competition will take place in London in May.
