Holders Grammar hope for winning start

Grades cricket gets under way tomorrow in the Aberdeen and Aberdeensh­ire area with Aberdeen Grammar hoping to get the defence of their Grade 1 title of to a winning start against Mannofield at Rubislaw.

There are 28 teams in the newly structured Aberdeensh­ire Cricket Associatio­n Grades, competing in the three divisions.

Bon Accord start their season at the Links against newly promoted Stoneywood-Dyce, while Grampian, the other new team in the division, travel to Academy. Inverurie host Crescent, while Cults are at home to Knight Riders.

In Grade 2, Methlick meet last season’s Grade 3 winners Stonehaven at the Lairds while recently relegated Ellon Gordon take on Knight Riders 2nds at Sheddocksl­ey.

In Grade 3, Banchory host Turriff in their first game after being relegated.
