A spir­ited per­for­mance by Aberdeen was not enough to bring them Scot­tish Youth Cup glory as Hiber­nian pow­ered to a 3-1 vic­tory at Ham­p­den.

Ryan Por­te­ous and Jamie Gul­lan bagged goals in the sec­ond half af­ter Paul Sheerin’s young Dons had matched the Devel­op­ment League cham­pi­ons for much of the con­test.

Con­nor McLen­nan had given them the lead in the first half with a bril­liant in­di­vid­ual run but Joseph MacPher­son’s own-goal meant the two sides went in level at the break.

With ex­tra time look­ing a pos­si­bil­ity, Por­te­ous’ header put Hibs into the lead for the first time and Gul­lan struck from in­side six yards to en­sure the tro­phy headed back to Easter Road. Match re­port and
