A spirited performance by Aberdeen was not enough to bring them Scottish Youth Cup glory as Hibernian powered to a 3-1 victory at Hampden.

Ryan Porteous and Jamie Gullan bagged goals in the second half after Paul Sheerin’s young Dons had matched the Development League champions for much of the contest.

Connor McLennan had given them the lead in the first half with a brilliant individual run but Joseph MacPherson’s own-goal meant the two sides went in level at the break.

With extra time looking a possibility, Porteous’ header put Hibs into the lead for the first time and Gullan struck from inside six yards to ensure the trophy headed back to Easter Road. Match report and
