Rha Falls walkway is refurbished
The route to a picturesque landmark on the Isle of Skye has had a facelift in a bid to attract more tourists.
The walkway leading to The Rha Falls at Uig Wood on Skye has been repaired and resurfaced.
The works, brought forward by Woodland Trust Scotland, were described as being complex due to the steepness of the ravine, whilst drilling into the rock in places to secure the handrails, as well as with the use of a chute to take the materials down to the ravine to complete the resurfacing of the path.
The project was carried out by Inverness-based company ACT Heritage Ltd over the last month.
Woodland Trust north Scotland site manager, Ross Watson, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the outcome of this project, and I hope that local folk and visitors to Uig will enjoy this secluded spot that wee bit more now there is a rail to lean on and take in the view below, and make their way out to the waterfall without fear of slipping in the mud.”
This work was part of a wider programme of path improvement works across the Woodland Trust Scotland’s Highland properties this year.
