April 28 – Arlene Fraser reported missing.

■ 1999

November 12 – Nat Fraser charged with attempting to murder Arlene five weeks before her disappeara­nce.

■ 2000

March 1 – Fraser jailed for 18 months after admitting reduced charge of assaulting Arlene to her severe injury and danger of life.

November 30 – Fraser is released from prison.

■ 2001

April 2 – Fraser jailed for a year for obtaining legal aid by fraud.

June 19 – Fraser and Hector Dick charged with conspiracy to murder.

October 1 – Fraser released from prison.

■ 2002

April 26 – Fraser, Dick and Glenn Lucas all indicted for the murder of Arlene.

■ 2003

January 7 – Murder trial starts. Charges dropped against Dick in return for giving evidence for prosecutio­n. Lucas also walks free.

January 29 – Fraser is convicted of murder, sentenced to life imprisonme­nt with recommenda­tion of minimum 25 years.

■ 2005

May 6 – Fraser granted leave to appeal, released from prison.

■ 2006

September 14 – Lucas dies.

■ 2007

December 6 – Fraser returned to prison after his bail is revoked.

■ 2008

May 6 – Fraser’s appeal is rejected.

■ 2010

May 31 – Fraser given leave to appeal to UK Supreme Court

■ 2011

June 17 – Conviction is quashed, re-trial is granted, Fraser remains in prison.

■ 2012

April 21 – New trial begins at High Court in Edinburgh.

May 30 – Fraser found guilty of murder for second time, sentenced to minimum 17 years.

■ 2013

October 5 – Fraser loses appeal against conviction.

December 18 - Fraser has four months added to sentence after being caught with mobile phone in cell.
