Awards for boosting economy
Tourism body VisitAberdeenshire has recognised the achievements of academics and business leaders who added more than £2.5 million to the local economy by hosting 15 conferences in Aberdeen during 2017.
A total of 15 awards to members of the Aberdeen Ambassador Network were presented at the ceremony. The network was created to encourage and support professionals and academics to bring high-profile conferences to the region.
It works in partnership with Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, Aberdeen University, Robert Gordon University and the James Hutton Institute. VisitAberdeenshire ambassador programme executive Graeme Mackay said: “2017 was one of the strongest years yet for the network.
“We have worked with a variety of conference organisers from many different industries which demonstrates the strength of our ambassador programme and our conference facilities in Aberdeen,” added Mr Mackay.
