New town’s residents now on the buses

-

Scotland’s first new town in half a century now has a regular bus service.

Tornagrain, seven miles east of Inverness, will be served by Stagecoach’s daily No 11 service from Nairn to Inverness Bus

Station.

One of the first residents of the development, Ian Grant, said: “It’s a huge boost to the community and allows us to travel easily around the area without a car.”

It is another “milestone” for Moray Estates’ awardwinning development which first accepted residents in March of last year.

John Stuart, Earl of Moray, said: “It was always our aim that Tornagrain would have great public transport links and it is great to see that being realised.

Graeme Leslie, operations director for Stagecoach North Scotland, said: “We are delighted to introduce Tornagrain to our service 11 route and look forward to welcoming the community on our buses.”

Currently 86 homes are occupied and over the next 50 to 60 years Tornagrain will be expanded to house more than 10,000 people.
