Jailed for hammer incident

-

An Easter Ross man was jailed for a year after attacking his former partner’s new friend with a hammer.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 49-year-old Ian Cameron went to a house in Tomich Road, Invergordon, on April 22 where his ex of five years, Elizabeth Catto, was drinking with Campbell Leiper.

Fiscal depute Roderick Urquhart said Ms Catto was expecting a Chinese meal delivery and Mr Leiper answered the door when the doorbell rang.

“Cameron immediately swung an object in a blue bag at him and Mr Leiper felt himself being struck on the head with something hard,” he said.

Mr Urquhart said that Cameron then proceeded to break windows of the property with a hammer, which Mr Leiper realised was probably what hit him.
