VET NURSING

-

A new vet nursing degree has been launched by Scotland’s Rural College, SRUC.

The BSc in veterinary nursing will be offered from the college’s Barony campus in Dumfries, and students will gain hands-on experience with domestic animals and livestock at the animal care training centre, stables and working farm.

Each student will also undertake a one-year placement at an approved vet practice and a threeweek rotation at the University of Glasgow’s small animal hospital.

“Practices are crying out for more qualified nurses as their expertise plays a hugely valuable role in the industry,” said SRUC dean, Professor Nick Sparks.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the first intake of vet nursing degree students, where they will benefit from outstanding teaching and unique access to a wide range of animals in a stunning rural setting.”

The deadline for next year’s applications is January 15 2019.
