Groups will have a story to tell with activities
Avid readers from across the north-east and Highlands are invited to book a storyteller for a local event.
The opportunity, along with the chance to launch a new community activity project, is part of a local campaign which runs alongside the Scottish International Storytelling Festival.
Organisers hope that schools and communities will be encouraged to take part by holding or attending an event that celebrates an overarching theme.
This year’s topic is Growing Stories, highlighting how stories enable communities to grow together and
“The main goal is to connect with the art of storytelling”
connect with the the world.
Events can take place until November 30, however, a designated showcase day is suggested for November 7 with schools and community groups encouraged to hold events then and show their work online.
The National Storytelling Network co-ordinator, Miriam Morris said: “This is a great opportunity for local community groups to get together and share and connect with stories in their own creative way.
“We have compiled a toolkit and resources with suggestions on how to take part but they’re not prescriptive.
“The main goal of the local campaign is for communities and schools to connect with the art of storytelling in a way that is engaging and accessible to them and we encourage participation in any form.”
Scotland’s Local Storytelling campaign Growing Stories is on now until November 30.
