Bale returns to training as Rooney roars for DC

-

Wales forward Gareth Bale could be back in contention for a return to action with Real Madrid against Levante after resuming training.

Bale has been carrying a groin problem in recent weeks, and missed Wales’ 4-1 defeat by Spain in Cardiff.

The 29-year-old then headed back to his club early from international duty ahead of Tuesday’s Nations League clash against the Republic of Ireland.

The Real Madrid website reported yesterday that Bale was among those to rejoin the rest of Los Blancos’ squad in preparation for the resumption of LaLiga action.

All of Real’s international players took part, with goalkeeper Keylor Navas using the indoor facilities.

Julen Lopetegui’s squad host Levante looking to kickstart a campaign that has seen them go four matches without a win in all competitions before the international break.

The European champions have also failed to score in all of those fixtures, which included defeats to Sevilla, CSKA Moscow and Alaves as well as a goalless draw at home to rivals Atletico.

Wayne Rooney scored a stunning free-kick to secure DC United a 1-0 win over Toronto as his excellent Major League Soccer form continued.

The 32-year-old former England captain has made a considerable impact in the United States following his move to the Washington outfit from Everton over the summer.

His goal against Toronto made it six in his last five games, and he has a total of 10 in 18 MLS appearances (16 starts), having made his debut in mid-July and got off the mark in his fourth match.

Rooney has registered a brace on three occasions, and also produced seven assists so far.
