Spending spree for divorce case man
A millionaire Russian businessman spent more than £40,000 on clothes, restaurants and travel in a fortnight – weeks after saying he could not pay £15,000 a month maintenance to his estranged wife, a divorce court judge has been told.
Lawyers representing the man’s wife outlined the scale of his spending to Mr Justice Moor during a private family court trial in London.
Detail of the case has emerged in a ruling published by the judge.
Mr Justice Moor had been asked to decide how much the woman should walk away with following the breakdown of a 25-year relationship.
He concluded that she should get a package of about £9.5 million.
He said no one involved could be identified.
Both the man and woman were from Russia.
