What future role for Scotland?

-

SIR, – A question or two for your unionist correspondents, which I would like to be answered as honestly as possible:

What part, if any, do those who voted for Scottish independence have to play in the future development of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, after Brexit, in their opinion?

And are those who voted for Scottish independence regarded as equal partners with those who voted for the union by the unionist community, or not?

The reason for asking these questions is that I had the opportunity to speak to a serving police officer in my native St Monans, and although we did not discuss the subject of Police Scotland, I got the impression a lot could have been said on the subject – and not in particularly complimentary terms.

We need to find solutions that suit policing in Scotland and are in all our interests for the very diverse country that is Scotland.

Similarly, London does not appear to have the expanse of coastline that Scotland has despite having around double the population. Policing and other emergency services and the way they are delivered need to reflect that, in my opinion.

The last question is this: Will Scotland be genuinely be regarded as an important member of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or will we always be seen as “subsidy junkies” who take a lot but do not have any positive contribution to make towards it?

not rest until she’s chopped up in bags and in my freezer”.

Apart from the specific personal offence to the PM, it is disgraceful that politicians should succumb to making such unpleasant and threatening comments when there is so much legitimate concern about comments in the social media which are very intimidating and upsetting.

The public are entitled to better role models.

should take heed of this report and rethink his economic policy for Scotland before it is too late .

Dons fans rightly won the Best Away Fans award last year but they’re not fools and shouldn’t be viewed as such, neither by their club nor their local paper.
