Hunting pictures create a bad image
SIR, – The pictures plastered all over the newspapers of the loud Miss Switlyk and her hirsute pal, all dressed up on Islay like over-the-top SAS warriors and gloating over her hunting trophies, are distasteful in the extreme.
They tend not only to verify the adverse stereotypes of some of her compatriots who visit this country, but also – although there is no allegation of cruelty or suffering in these – to denigrate British field sports.
It has proved a great opportunity for politicians, especially from the SNP, to speedily jump on the bandwagon, talking about a change in the law, for further regulation and possible licensing of sporting estates – one of their pet hates.
