Disappoint­ing cup weekend means Banks o’ Dee fly flag

Of the 11 north sides involved in Scottish Junior Cup third round action at the weekend, only Banks o’ Dee will be in the hat for the draw for the last 32.

The Spain Park side defeated East Kilbride Thistle 5-1 thanks to goals from Lachie MacLeod, Richard Binnie (2), Jamie Watt and Jack Henderson.

Banchory St Ternan were 2-1 winners at Sunnybank despite playing an hour with 10 men after Greig Smith was sent off. A Darren Reid penalty and Jordan Clark did the damage for Saints.

Buchanhave­n Hearts moved joint second in the Second Division alongside Glentanar and a point behind Islavale after beating the Woodside team 3-2. Newmachar United won 3-0 at Cruden Bay and Whitehills beat Spey Valley United 5-2.
