Vital to take chance for return to winning ways

- BY DAVID SUTHERLAND

Occasionally in writing this piece it becomes quite challenging to come up with something fresh and different.

We have, in recent weeks, entered one of these periods as Inverness Caledonian Thistle, game after game, struggle to win and score yet somehow manage to remain unbeaten.

It’s as puzzling a business this week as it was last week and the week before.

While it frustrates the club’s supporters it must be even harder for the players and management.

A 0-0 draw at Alloa should be a slightly surprising result, but not right now.

Nobody was taken aback by this scoreline and the Wasps thoroughly merited their point. Indeed, they could have had all three.

I have been impressed with what they have done this season. They were never going to win this league, with survival in the Championship their main aim.

With Falkirk once again looking extremely poor it is quite possible Alloa could remain in the Championship next term, though they might need to do it through the play-offs.

Can we get back to winning ways tomorrow night against Dunfermline?

I certainly hope so. It is badly needed as we have now slipped back to fifth position. The Pars are having struggles of their own presently, so it should be viewed as a good opportunity to pick up all three points.

John Robertson could make some changes to his attacking personnel and it is hard to see what he has to lose by freshening things up. He would welcome getting George Oakley and Angus Beith fit as soon as possible.

I am not the most optimistic of people but I think Inverness will get back to winning ways tomorrow. It might not be pretty but I expect a win.
