Fort fall as Wick overrun defences to net six WICKACADEMY 6 FORTWILLIAM 0
Wick Academy swept aside Fort William with central defender Andy Hardwick notching a hat-trick in the 6-0 win.
Academy opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Gary Manson converted from the penalty spot after Sam Mackay was fouled. Hardwick made it 2-0 with a clever close-range back heel.
Hardwick added another in the 58th minute before another defender, Grant Steven, made it 4-0 four minutes later.
Hardwick completed an unlikely hat-trick in the 69th minute, again from the penalty spot, before striker Davie Allan
“Dominated possession from start to finish”
completed the scoring late on with a simple tap-in.
Wick manager Tom McKenna said: “Against a very spirited Fort William team, we dominated possession from start to finish.
“It was very encouraging that five out of the six goals we scored came from our defenders with Andy Hardwick helping himself to a well-taken hattrick.
“In the end it could have been a more convincing scoreline had it not been for an excellent performance from Fort William’s goalkeeper Mateusz Kulbacki.”
Fort manager Kris Anderson said: “I thought that the boys did themselves proud.
“I thought we were a little bit unlucky going into the second half 2-0 down.
“The average age of the squad was 20 years old and we only had one substitute.”
