A late James Chalmers strike secured three points for Turriff United and left new Clach manager Brian MacLeod still searching for his first victory.

Drew Copeland put United ahead in the eighth minute but former Northern Ireland international Sean Webb equalised in the 16th minute from close range.

With eight minutes left, Turriff snatched the winner when Chalmers fired past Dougie MacLennan.

United manager Kris Hunter said: “We played really well against Forres recently and didn’t get the three points but in this one we didn’t play as well and got the win.

“My players deserve

credit for digging deep, especially when we had Keir Smith sent off after picking up a second yellow card.

“I thought the first yellow was pretty soft but he has to learn from it.

“Young James came up with a great winning goal. It was pleasing to get the three points as we’ve been on a bad run.

“It was brilliant to see our central defender Cammy Bowden back in the side with his first start after three months out following a knee operation.”

Clach manager Brian MacLeod said: “I thought Turriff were the better team on the day and they passed us off the park at times.

“I was impressed with their buildup play but it was disappointing not to take anything from the match after it was 1-1 with 10 minutes to go.”
