Hot reception prepared as Hunter takes Turriff to the Broch

Huntly could hand a debut to new signing Matthew Johnston in tonight’s trip to Rothes. The Black and Golds first-choice goalkeeper Euan Storrier has been ruled out for two weeks after suffering concussion in Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Fraserburgh – prompting Huntly manager Martin Skinner to bolster his squad by signing the stopper from Dyce Juniors.

Skinner said: “Euan will be out for a couple of weeks with concussion so we have acted swiftly to bring in Matthew Johnston from Dyce.

“Apart from Euan, we should be at full strength for the trip to Rothes if striker Gary McGowan passes a fitness test on a groin injury.”

Rothes manager Steven MacDonald, whose side went down 3-2 at Buckie at

the weekend, said: “Huntly have done well this season so it will be a tough one. Thankfully we are at full strength.”

Fraserburgh are also at full strength to host Turriff United with Turriff manager Kris Hunter returning to the club where he played his entire career.

Broch boss Mark Cowie said: “I’m sure Kris, who was my manager twice during my playing career, at both Fraserburgh and Turriff United, will get a really warm welcome back to Bellslea, just like every other former Broch player of manager going back. There will be plenty

of banter for him as well. We’ll still be looking to turn them over. Friendships will be set aside for 90 minutes when we’ll both be trying our best to win for our team.”

Turriff will be without striker David Ross, who is working in the Middle East.

Forres Mechanics entertain

Fort William at Mosset Park.

Mechanics manager Charlie Rowley said: “I don’t think we deserved to lose 2-1 at Inverurie Locos on Saturday as there was nothing between the teams.

“We have two important home games coming up – one against a rapidly-im- proving Strathspey Thistle on Saturday.

“But our focus is on Fort William first. We will give them every respect as when you take your eye off the ball more often than not that’s when you end up with egg on your face.”

Cove Rangers will look to bounce back from their Scottish Cup exit at Auchinleck Talbot when they welcome a Deveronvale side still smarting from an unexpected 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Strathspey Thistle.

Clach are at full strength for the Grant Street clash with Inverurie Locos, who travel without injured front four Chris Angus, Andy Hunter, Jonny Smith and Kyle Gordon.

Brora Rangers have an early opportunity to bounce back from Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Formartine United when they welcome Lossiemouth, who lost 4-2 against Keith at the weekend.
