STRATHSPEY ON A ROLL AS LISLE LOOKS TO BUILD ON HIS HISTORIC HAT-TRICK

- BY DAVE EDWARDS

Striker Scott Lisle hopes to help in-form Strathspey Thistle continue their winning run in the Highland League. Lisle, pictured centre, took his season’s tally to nine after his hat-trick in Saturday’s 4-0 win at Deveronvale. It was the first time Strathspey had defeated Deveronvale and the youngster’s first hat-trick in Highland League football. The Grantown Jags have moved up to 15th spot after winning three games in a row. Lisle, son of former Caledonian player Martin, said: “It was great to score my first hat-trick in the league. “My first goal was scored with my left foot but the other two were with the right foot . “I just couldn’t seem to get that header for the perfect hat-trick.” The Grantown attacker added: “That win at Princess Royal Park was the club’s first ever victory over the Vale since joining the Highland League. “We didn’t make a great start to the season but we’ve been doing pretty well since and we’ve gone on to win our last three games. “The boys have been playing pretty well recently. “I’m loving my football at Strathspey Thistle. It’s good to be playing regularly as I didn’t play all that much at Brora Rangers last season. “It’s really good to be getting a lot more game time at Strathspey. “They have given me and my twin brother Cameron a chance and we’ve taken it with both hands.” The 20-year-old added: “I really enjoy playing in the same side as Cameron. “I’ve played alongside him all my life, through school and up at Brora Rangers so we know each other’s games inside-out. “He doesn’t score as many goals as myself so it was good to see him get a goal against Lossie a couple of weeks ago. “As a team, we are beginning to climb the table. “Those nine points from our last three matches have certainly helped. We are only three points behind Nairn County, Turriff United and Rothes, who are all on 17 points. We’re definitely heading in the right direction.”
