McKinnon positive despite late concession
Falkirk boss Ray McKinnon hopes the draw with Ross County can act as a springboard to their season.
The Bairns were 12 minutes away from their second league win before Iain Vigurs salvaged a draw for the Staggies.
The home side had led from the 25th minute when Don Cowie put through his own net and had remained solid for the majority of the game, in the face of constant County pressure.
But Vigurs stepped up when it mattered from the visitors to earn a point and despite the late blow, McKinnon hopes it is a result that can galvanise the bottom-ofthe-table side.
He said: “We thought we might just hang on
– it was an unbelievable strike and he has that quality in his locker. We’re pleased as we’re trying to figure out a way to get points. We knew the qualities of Ross County, so I was pleased with the discipline and shape. We’ve had two or three unbelievable opportunities and I’m pleased with a point against a really good side. From now until January we really need to graft. It’s not going to be pretty but it’s a great point tonight against the league leaders. It’s a great confidence boost for the guys. Hopefully it’s a wee springboard for the season to kick on now.”
McKinnon was also boosted by the news that the Falkirk board would be providing him with fresh investment to reshape the squad, as they look to drag themselves away from the Championship basement. The Falkirk boss has already brought in Zak Rudden on loan from Rangers and former Hearts midfielder Prince Buaben.
He added: “The board have been different class, recognising we need to look at different positions.”
