A frustrating draw but longest streak is equalled

- BY PAUL THIRD AT CALEDONIAN STADIUM

Draw number six in a row for Caley Thistle but it was not for the want of trying following a remarkable 90 minutes at Caledonian Stadium.

Inverness threw caution to the wind as they sought to snap their remarkable streak of draws and while the attacking play made for great viewing at times the lack of defensive quality from either side ensured it ended a point apiece.

For the Caley Thistle supporters it was a familiar ending to what must seem like Groundhog Day so far in the Highlands this season.

Caley Thistle manager John Robertson made four changes to the side which was held to a goalless draw at Alloa on Saturday.

Captain Carl Tremarco missed out due to injury while Joe Chalmers, Jamie McCart and Aaron Doran all dropped to the bench.

Coll Donaldson, Riccardo Calder, Charlie Trafford and Daniel Mackay, making his first league start for the club, were the replacements in the starting line-up.

Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston made five changes to his side following the 2-0 home defeat by

Dundee United on Saturday with Andy Ryan, Aidan Connolly Malaury Martin, Joseph Thomson and Aidan Keena all coming into the side.

Following a run of five straight draws and with goals proving somewhat hard to come by the last thing Inverness needed was to lose an early goal but that is exactly what happened.

The Pars sounded an early warning when Myles Hippolyte found space on the edge of the box before seeing his powerful drive blocked by the knees of home goalkeeper Mark Ridgers but the goalkeeper’s save was in vain as the visitors duly opened the scoring with their next attack in the 10th minute.

Sean Welsh was the culprit, passing the ball straight to Hippolyte and he surged forward before playing in Aidan Keena who had time to look up and curl a low effort past Ridgers to give his side the lead.

It should have been 2-0 four minutes later when Aidan Connolly sent Keena clear on goal but Welsh got back to make superb sliding challenge to deny the striker when he was one on one with the goal- keeper. The home side were living dangerously in an erratic opening but a diagonal ball from Shaun Rooney split the Pars defence and Calder took full advantage, running clear into the box before firing past Lee Robinson to make it 1-1.

Having restored par- ity Inverness should have settled but they seemed determined to play on the edge in this one and a turn on the edge of the box from Keena left two Inverness defenders wrong-footed completely but Ridgers made a superb save to deny the on-loan
