Tottenham deal in Alli

-

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2024. The England international joined from MK Dons in 2015. Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston shared Inverness counterpart John Robertson’s frustration after watching his side fail to claim all three points from their trip to Caledonian Stadium.

The Pars led twice and had chances to win the game in the second half but in the end they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Johnston said: “The first half was really open, it was end to end. It must have been good to watch as both teams were going at it and from our point of view we scored two cracking goals but also conceded two and we should have done better.

“One of their goals shouldn’t have stood as it was a clear foul on Malaury Martin. He was caught on the halfway line and the referee has to see it. We still should have defended it better after that.

“We were in some great positions, even in the second half, and we have to take advantage more than we did.

“Inverness went direct towards the end and we should have killed them off but we couldn’t get that final pass.

“We had chances to win the game and there was a lot of good attacking play which is a positive for us but we’re frustrated not to get the three points as they make a massive difference in this league.”

On-loan Hearts attacker Aidan Keena scored twice and Johnston hopes the youngster can continue where he left off after an impressive showing in the Highlands.

He said: “Aidan hasn’t played a lot of football but what an impression he made to come in and do that.

“He has been injured and is just back. He’s still getting up to match speed but you can see the creativity he has and it gives everyone a lift to see him play like that.

“The first goal was a great touch and a composed finish and he was unlucky not to score a couple more in the first half.”
