To set record straight

-

fermline went straight upfield to regain the lead in the 29th minute with the superb Keena firing an unstoppable 35 yard strike past Ridgers in what is surely a goal of the season contender, the ball rocketing into the top right hand corner of the net.

But Inverness had not made it 21 games unbeaten in the Championship without showing resolve and they levelled again five minutes later when Tom Walsh crossed for White to side-foot the ball past Robinson from six yards.

By comparison, the sec- ond half was a mundane affair with neither goalkeeper called into action until the closing stages.

Aidan Connolly clipped the crossbar for the Pars with a 20 yard free kick before White headed over from almost on the goalline for the home side. Championship I would have put the Pars at the top of the list just marginally ahead of several other teams.

Things, though, have not worked out that well for the men from East End Park with Caley Thistle’s 3-0 win there earlier definitely their best result of the season.

Yet another draw for the Caley Jags looked a real possibility but I arrived at the game very much sharing Barry Wilson’s thoughts in yesterday’s Press and Journal that falling any further behind the league leaders would be dangerous for Inverness.

Yet, if they continue to fail to win games that will be the inevitable conclusion.

The home team started brightly but found themselves behind twice in a first half that fairly flew past.

Poor passing led to the visitors’ first while the second was a lovely strike.

Our defence looked shaky at times but we showed good spirit getting back on level terms on two occasions.

The second half never reached the heights of the first.

It was scrappy stuff for the fans and Inverness really didn’t look like a getting a third.

If Dunfermline were to score you felt it would be as a result if an Inverness mistake.

That never happened and Inverness had to settle for just another point.

Both teams had chances, but a point apiece is probably about right. It’s not a great point for us or them.

The game was far too open. It is just a real strange sequence of results for us. I can sense and understand the fans’ frustration.

At some point the players have to take responsibility themselves.

That’s eight draws and you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know four wins and four defeats would be preferable.

Has the unbeaten run affected us? I don’t think it has.

It is a tremendous effort from the players 11 wins and 11 draws in 22 games is phenomenal and I congratulate them.

In one season, it would be title-winning form.

But in terms of this season, three wins and eight draws is a crazy run.
