Oil and gas supply business moves to Marischal Square

- BY REBECCA BUCHAN

Oil and gas supply company Tenaris is the latest business to take space at the Marischal Square development in Aberdeen.

The firm, which produces steel pipe products, including OCTG casing and tubing, and other products for the energy sector, will relocate from its current premises in Altens to Marischal Square, which will become the company’s new regional headquarters for the North Sea and SubSahara Africa operations.

Around 60 members of staff will relocate to approximately 8,500 sq ft of office space on the fifth floor of the 2MSq building.

Tenaris managing director Gary Thomson said: “We had outgrown our previous office space and we wanted to move to a modern facility in the city centre,” he said.

“Marischal Square perfectly suits our requirements and gives us the ideal location to establish Aberdeen as our regional hub.”

Aberdeen City Council co-leader Jenny Laing said Tenaris’ occupancy demonstrated Marischal Square was fulfilling its intended aim of bringing leading business into the city centre.

She said: “The additional staff will bring increased footfall and spend to other businesses in the area which in turn helps the economy of the city and wider region.”

Tenaris becomes the ninth major business to take space at Marischal Square and it will join RBS, Aberdeen Journals, Mackie’s, All Bar One, Prezzo, Costa, Tony Macaroni and Marriott International on site.
