Fake 999 calls led to arrest

-

An Easter Ross woman who has a lengthy record for making nuisance emergency calls to the police made a series of them just days after she was released from prison.

Elizabeth Gibson of Feddonhill, Fortrose, had been jailed for similar offences several weeks ago but was arrested on November 8 near the phone box from where she normally dials 999.

But Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the 21-year-old then struggled with police.

She admitted the Communications Act offence which occurred during the four days previous and resisting arrest.

Her lawyer, Neil Wilson, asked Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood to release her on bail to allow her to keep a psychologist’s appointment.

But the Sheriff remanded her because he said if he freed her, she would do the same thing again.

He deferred sentence until December 4 for a background report.
