Bagpipers to honour fallen
Pipers across the globe will play to honour the fallen at this year’s Armistice commemoration.
Tomorrow, 1,000 pipers start the day’s commemorations with the traditional Scottish lament played at the end of battle – Battle’s O’er – at 6am.
At 6.55pm 1,000 buglers will sound the last post at First World War beacons across the UK and UK Overseas Territories.
By 7pm 1,000 beacons will be lit and five minutes later 1,000 cathedrals and churches will ring their bells and 100 British town criers will take to the streets to celebrate the peace.
