Champ for third time in a row
Gavin Robertson, of Barrock, was crowned overall champion at the North and West Caithness Ploughing Association’s 29th annual ploughing match at Wester Olrig Farm, Castletown.
This made it three years running at the top for Mr Robertson.
Other trophies, from a total of the 45 entries, were awarded to: Best overall start and best overall finish – Gavin Robertson, Barrock; Overall straightest furrow – James Tait, Mey; Best start and finish combined in the Vintage Sections – Gerald Macleod, Strathpeffer; Best start, finish and straightest furrow combined in the Vintage Mounted and Trailing Classes (confined to Caithness) – Michael Sutherland, Murkle; Best in the Vintage Classes and best in the Vintage and Horse Sections – John Matheson, North Kessock; Best Vintage Tractor – Richard Macwilliam, Muir of Ord; Best Kept Tractor (other than Vintage) – Scott Rosie, Bower; Best ploughed lot by a competitor under 25 years old (Perpetual) (Confined to County) – Stevie Blackwood, Thurso; Neatest ends on the field – James Tait, Mey; Best Junior 21 years and under (confined to Caithness) – Alexander Campbell, Lybster; Best overall - Gavin Robertson, Barrock.
