Fertility and nutrition in focus
Next month’s Scottish Dairy Conference in Ayrshire will address the theme of “Fertility Challenges and Latest Solutions” with a strong line-up of international speakers drawing on practical advice and experience from around the dairy farming world.
“Fertility solutions are recognised as a key aspect of modern dairy farming and herd profitability,” said Dr Robin Hawkey, senior nutritionist with Mole Valley Farmers, who are hosting the conference on December 4 at Dumfries House, Cumnock.
Speakers include Cumbria-based Dr John Cook, technical vet with World Wide Sires Global; Dr Jo Leroy, University of Antwerp department of veterinary science; Arnout Dekker of Philbro Animal Health; and dairy vet consultant, Dr Tom Chamberlain.
Dr Hawkey will also give a presentation, “Precision Nutrition and Fertility”, in which he will look at steps to prevent healthrelated problems, and the importance of nutrition; dry-matter intake and glucogenic effects.
