Contract win for Wood
Services: Work valued at over £40m
Energy services giant Wood said yesterday that it had secured three new contracts worth more than £40 million in the Middle East.
Aberdeen-headquartered Wood will provide project management consultancy services for Adnoc Onshore, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc).
Wood’s involvement will specifically focus on major projects across the customer’s onshore fields in Abu Dhabi.
The contracts will run for an initial five years but can be extended by a further 12 months.
Around 100 new jobs will be created in-country.
Wood’s offices in Abu Dhabi will take responsibility for delivering the services, with support from the company’s global workforce.
The partnership between Wood and Adnoc spans more than 40 years.
Dave Stewart, chief executive of Wood’s asset solutions business in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, said the company would continue to work very closely with suppliers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and to develop the local workforce.
Mr Stewart said: “Wood has a strong foothold in the Middle East and our strategic focus on continuing to broaden the capabilities we deliver to the oil and gas market in this region is demonstrated by these new contracts.
“We look forward to working closely with Adnoc Onshore to continue to deliver safe and effective services, applying our ingenuity and expertise to maximise production of its onshore assets.
“We are focused on supporting in-country value and collaboration with the UAE supply chain, using local vendors for goods and services.
“We are also committed to creating opportunities to nurture new industry talent in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, which will be central to our successful execution of this contract.”
Wood operates in more than 60 countries and has around 60,000 staff.
The company’s regional organisation is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, with representative offices across the UAE, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
Adnoc is a major group of energy and petrochemical companies. It produces about 3m barrels of oil and 10.5 billion cubic feet of raw gas a day. The group is targeting output of 4m barrels of oil per day by 2020.
