Five to be reported after drug supply crackdown

Five people will be reported in connection with drug offences following three days of police activity in the Caithness area.

Operation Ram was carried out at the end of last week and into the weekend, focusing on disrupting suspected drug supply.

Three men aged 49, 18 and 24, and two women aged 18 and 22, will be reported in connection with drug offences.

A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with the possession of an unlicensed air weapon recovered during a search in the Castletown area.

Quantities of alprazolam, cannabis and diazepam were recovered during searches.

The operation involved resources from the Highlands and Islands Division, as well as specialist officers from road policing and the dog unit.

Sergeant Doug Green said: “The supply of drugs is not tolerated by the people of Caithness and we will continue to take robust action against anyone believed to be involved.

“We work best in partnershi­p with the public and we act on every piece of informatio­n we receive. Enforcemen­t activity such as this is a direct result of community intelligen­ce.
