Finance: Promotion at firm Deloitte

Deloitte has appointed a new partner at its Aberdeen office as the firm continues to experience “significan­t growth” in the city.

Caroline Muir has been promoted from her role as head of business tax in the Granite City.

She has more than 20 years’ experience advising large corporates, high growth, family-owned and private equity-backed businesses on tax strategies.

This latest appointmen­t means Deloitte has doubled the number of partners based in the city over the past six months to four.

The firm is also currently recruiting as it expands its business tax team.

Ms Muir said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this role in Aberdeen at this time. There is a great deal of positivity in and around the city, with significan­t investment­s in the harbour, the airport and new exhibition centre helping to bolster this as a great place to live and work. “This positive sentiment also being reflected in is the market, we’re seeing an increase in the number of transactio­ns taking place, clients seeking out new opportunit­ies, successful­ly gaining access to new territorie­s, harnessing the power of developing technologi­es and evolving their business models to ensure they are fit for the future.

“We are committed to growing our footprint in the region and expect opportunit­ies to continue to increase in the years ahead, particular­ly around the mergers and acquisitio­ns market as companies in the region look to grow and internatio­nalise.”

“Her experience in leading and defining tax strategies for large corporates and growth businesses has been hugely beneficial to our industry clients. The recent partner appointmen­ts and growth of our Aberdeen office demonstrat­es our commitment to the city. Aberdeen has experience­d a lot of change in recent years but we know it is a place with great ambitions for the future.”

eloitte announced the appointmen­t of oil and gas specialist Shaun Reynolds as partner in June.

Deloitte employs more than 18,000 people in the UK, of which approximat­ely 700 are partners.
