Formartine United midfielder Scott Ferries is weighing up his options as he decides whether to stay at North Lodge Park, return to Australia or take up an option to play in Asia.

The 22-year-old, who is the son of former Ross County winger Billy Ferries, scored twice in his comeback game for United in the 14-1 victory against struggling Fort William, having returned home to Tain from Australia for the festive period.

“Sunshine in Oz has done me the world of good”

Comets from April to September before training with Sunshine Coast FC.

The midfielder is now deciding whether to finish the Highland League season with United or seek another adventure abroad.

He said: “I’m not sure exactly what my plans are.

“I’ve signed amateur forms with Formartine for the time being but I also have a few offers from teams in Australia and an Asian team from Cambodia have also been in touch.

“I’m weighing everything up at the moment but I certainly wouldn’t rule out seeing the rest of the season out at Formartine.

“We’ll just have to and see how it goes.

“I’m also looking at opportunities away from football as well, I think I will have to take the whole package into consideration before I make my mind up about anything.

“It was good to get back home and talk things over wait with my mum and dad and get their take on things.

“I scored two goals against Fort William at the weekend.

“That’s not like me so I think all that sunshine over in Oz has done me the world of good.”

United manager Paul Lawson would love Ferries to remain at North Lodge at least until the end of the season.

He said: “Scott’s still not sure what’s happening but hopefully we will have him until the end of the season.

“It’s great for us to have him back, both on and off the pitch, as he’s a real character.

“I thought that Scott was different class against Fort William last Saturday.

“It is great that a player of his quality decided to come back and re-join the club. He is a great addition to the squad.

“Against Fort William last Saturday we started him wide on the left but we later gave him a free role and he certainly influenced the game.

“He certainly hasn’t lost any of his pace and sharpness.”
