-

The world’s most famous locomotive is to steam into Inverness this May – for only the second time in the celebrated Flying Scotsman’s illustrious history.

However, passengers will be forced to depart with £999 of their hardearned cash to enjoy the luxury of first-class hospitality.

The first-class excursion will see passengers greeted with champagne and cakes, alongside a threenight stay in a four-star Inverness hotel.

A lesser option is also available with premium standard passengers receiving free tea and coffee and being put up in a Holiday Inn Express for the duration of the trip, at a cost of £699 per person.

Separate trips are also being offered by the Flying Scotsman’s sister locomotive, Mayflower, which will see passengers take in the north, touring Wick and Thurso, along with Kyle of Lochalsh, at an additional cost.

Previously, the Flying Scotsman visited Inverness back in 2000.
