Access to airport from the north

-

SIR, – Patsy Jardine’s “rant” (Letters, January 8) about the lack of bus services to Aberdeen Airport from the north highlights a dilemma.

If you permit bus services between the park and rides and the airport, people will park there in preference to the airport’s overpriced parking. The 727 airport service was originally due to stop at the Craibstone P&R (Evening Express, June 13 2017) but now does not seem to. From January 21 the new 747 and 757 services will connect Kingswells P&R to the airport but it’s not clear how air travellers will be discouraged, other than by the P&R’s 36-hour maximum stay.

Stagecoach did route the No 10 Inverness services via the airport a few years ago but congestion made it impossible to keep to timetables. With the improved road lay-out perhaps they should try again.
