Skye’s new management team aims to tackle yo-yo tag

-

Skye have appointed Alan Macleod, who was a firstteam player last year, and Kenny Macleod, who was in charge of the second team, as their new co-managers and the duo’s target is to rid the islanders of their yo-yo tag.

Having been promoted three times then relegated three times, Skye are keen to return to the Premiership and stay there.

Kenny said: “We’re more than conscious of being a yo-yo club and we aim to address that by laying solid foundations. The cornerstone will be the crop of last year’s under-17s, who did tremendously well.

“Adding to that, established senior players such as John Gillies, Will Cowie and Jordan Murchison are all under the age of 22, the side’s best years should definitely be ahead of them.

“We’re delighted to have signed William and Ross Mackinnon, who were with Boleskine last season but have a strong family connection to the club. In goal, Ryan Morrison will replace Iain Macleod, who is unavailable this year.”

college or working there, and we’re also getting good attendances at Portree.

“Gibbs Macdonald, whose radio work has kept him out for a couple of years, is training with us and we’re sure it won’t be long before he’s pushing for a place. Ally Macdonald, who was injured last year, is making a good recovery and should be available in springtime.”

Kenny and Alan succeed John MacLeod, who quit near the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Experienced defender Douglas Dando has broken ribs while playing hockey for Hillhead to sharpen up for Inveraray’s promotion to the top flight.

“Douglas was keen to be super-fit but is now unable to train”, said player-manager Ruaridh Graham “We’re hopeful he might still be ready for the March 3 start.”
