Fort boss vows to attack league leaders

-

They have already conceded a whopping 165 goals in 23 games but Fort William manager Kris Anderson has no intention of parking the bus when Cove Rangers visit Claggan Park on Saturday.

The Highland League leaders eased to an 11-0 victory when Fort visited Balmoral Stadium in September and they will be massive favourites again this weekend.

Anderson said: “I don’t think there would be any point in us going out and trying to shut up shop as it were.

“They have so many quality players who would still pick us off.

“When we lost to Cove Rangers at their new ground we found the artificial playing surface suited Cove’s game to a tee, it was really quick.

“The pitch at Balmoral Stadium doesn’t get waterlogged or muddy so the play never gets bogged down.

“When teams like ourselves go there, they can get caught out.

“However, when they come here they will find a playing surface that doesn’t resemble a bowling green.

“Claggan Park will be soft and heavy and it certainly won’t make life easy for them.”

Cove are five points clear of second-place Fraserburgh with two games in hand but Anderson does not believe the title race is over.

He said: “There is still an awful long way to go.

“Cove are leading at the moment and they are favourites to retain their title but they still have Brora home and away and if the Sutherland side were to win both of those tussles the fat would really be in the fire then.

“There’s still an awful lot of football to be played and it wouldn’t surprise if it went all the way to the last game.”
