Glen Urquhart are to be bolstered by the Brady Bunch – with Invergarry brothers Ewen and Michael Brady rejoining the Drumnadrochit squad.

And Mark Brady, who played in a defensive role for Glen in the 2014 Camanachd Cup final, hopes to commute from Perth, where he works.

Ewen, who has not played for Glen for four years, is making a positive impression during training.

“Sharper with every training session”

Glen Urquhart co-manager Eddie Tembo said: “It’s potentially a very good boost to have the Bradys back. We have signed and registered both lads for the new season.

“We’re assessing Mark’s fitness as he’s not been training anywhere in Perth, but he’s focused on a successful return.

“Ewen is looking sharper with every training session and is also very committed, so the brothers make valuable additions to our squad.”

Young defender James Hurwood may miss the opening months of the season hillwalking.

Tembo explained: “James has developed a passion for hillwalking and climbing. He hasn’t managed to train with us yet but we’re hoping he can return in due course.”

Former international Andy Corrigan has indicated that he will be available more often this season and because of is likely to figure in tomorrow’s pre-season game with Newtonmore at Blairbeg Park.

Neil Stewart, who has collected three Camanachd Cup winner’s medals with Newtonmore, has told the Badenoch club that he has opted to retire from the game at the age of 28.

A talented player whose early career was blighted by injury, Stewart scored the scorching goal in the 2016 Camanachd Cup final to earn his club a place in the final, in which he picked up another serious injury – but he netted in the 2017 final.

After determined rehabilitation Neil returned and he gained two Premiership championship winners medals.

Manager Paul John Mackintosh said: “Neil’s been a real stalwart and he’ll be missed. For work reasons he can’t commit to training regularly. But we’re grateful for his contribution.”

Fraser Mackintosh, who missed last year’s Camanachd triumph with a fractured collarbone, is back in training.

New boss John Stewart takes charge of Kilmallie, who head for Braeview Park to face Beauly, who have awarded Allan MacRae a new two-year contract as manager. Kilmallie’s second team make the trip to Oban Celtic.

Lochaber’s home game with Lovat has been postponed but Inverness face Strathspey at Grantown while Skye host Lewis in an inter-island duel. Strathglass make the trip to face Glengarry.
