Leaders ready to turn screw as they head south
Gordonians head coach Ryan Morrice is determined to bag a win against St Boswells in Melrose tomorrow as he bids to pile on the pressure on National 3 title rivals.
The leaders are five points clear of secondplaced Newton Stewart and a win tomorrow could put them 10 points clear with just four games to go.
Morrice said: “We’re in a great position in the league and we can put ourselves in an even stronger one this weekend.
“All season we’ve just looked to enjoy our rugby as players and coaches so that we can create an environment where players want to be and improve. We still have some difficult games ahead so we aren’t looking past anyone at this stage.”
Gordonians’ unbeaten streak came to an abrupt and disappointing end last month when they lost 29-8 to West of Scotland.
But Morrice aims to keep the momentum going and make amends for the poor result.
He added: “It was disappointing to lose but in reflection we were well-beaten so can’t really complain about it.
“It has created learning opportunities for the players to reflect on and identify where we need to improve.
“Training has been disrupted with the weather so we’ve been limited in what we have been able to do. But we have managed to get a good week of training in this week to prepare us for the trip to St Boswells.
“The squad has been really magnificent this season.
“Everyone is pulling in the same direction and hopefully they can get the rewards for all their hard work in these remaining games.”
