Thurso struggle with players shortage

Thurso are down to the bare bones for their Jock MacKay Cup quarter-final tie against St Duthus at Grant Park tomorrow.

Vikings manager, Steve Reid has been left with a skeleton squad with seven players posted missing. Goalkeeper James More has work commitment­s, while Scott Bell and David Hale will be at a stag do. Skipper Michael Petrie is on holiday, while Aidan Reid, Shaun Forbes and Conor Trueman are unavailabl­e.

There is also a doubt over defender Sean Stewart who is trying to shake off a knee injury.

Saints will be without Sam Beeston, Barry Kenny and Lewis Ross, but Alan Geegan and Jordan Mackinnon are

“Invergordo­n hope to be unchanged from last week”

set to return. Holders Invergordo­n hope to be unchanged from last week for their home tie against Orkney at the Recreation Grounds.

Orkney skipper Owen Rendall is still out due to a suspension.

In the other quarterfin­al tie, Bunillidh Thistle have home advantage against Alness United at Couper Park.

In the league, Golspie Sutherland have been boosted by the return of James Mackay and Ally MacLeod for their home fixture against Halkirk United at King George V Park.

Matt Mackay, Ryan Forbes and Ryan Sutherland are unvailable for United.
