Indyref still on cards if UK votes to remain
Nicola Sturgeon has suggested she would push for a second independence referendum even if the UK remained in the EU.
The Scottish First Minister, who has used Brexit to justify plans for a referendum by 2021, indicated that she still wanted a vote on Scottish independence following a hypothetical people’s vote that kept the UK in the EU.
Ms Sturgeon told the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show that the prospect of Boris Johnson becoming prime minister and “all of the experience of the last three years” meant Scotland should hold another independence vote.
Pamela Nash, chief executive of campaign group Scotland in Union, accused Ms Sturgeon of “weaponising Brexit to boost support for separation.”
