Striker keen to give Tannadice faithful another top night

-

Dundee United striker Nicky Clark is determined to give the Tannadice crowd another night to remember in Thursday’s Premiership play-off final first leg against St Mirren.

United were backed by their biggest crowd of the season for Friday’s tie, with 8,540 witnessing the 3-0 victory over Inverness which sets up their showdown with the Buddies.

Supporters were already queuing for tickets for Thursday’s home leg in large numbers immediately after the win over Caley Thistle, with Robbie Neilson’s men making the return trip to Paisley on Sunday.

Following United’s 4-0 aggregate victory over Caley Jags, Clark is determined to end his side’s three-year stay in the second-tier by gaining promotion to the Premiership.

Clark said: “It was brilliant. That is the best atmosphere at Tannadice since I arrived.

“It was great for 90 minutes and I’m hoping they can back us again like that on Thursday.

“The manager came in after the game and said there was a queue out there for tickets.

“We will prepare right and be ready to go again.

“The team we have here is good enough to go and play in the top league.

“We knew what we needed to get over the line but we got the clean sheet and the three goals as well so it was great.

“The second half we played well and that came from the confidence of getting the early goal. It gives us a bit of breathing space.”
