Cove snatch late leveller in high-scoring derby

The Dons edged in front two minutes into the second half when Johan Fraser netted but Dawn Law levelled for Cove five minutes later.

It looked like the points were heading to the visitors when Eilidh McHattie netted after 75 minutes before Bayley Hutchison made it 4-2 with five minutes to go.

But Cove refused to accept defeat and pulled a goal back within a minute through Sophie Taylor before Melissa Stirling earned a point deep into injury time.

The Dons had won eight games out of eight and had only conceded four goals before yesterday’.

Bottom of the table Raith Rovers Women claimed their first points of the season with a 4-3 win over Buchan Ladies.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle closed the gap on leaders Aberdeen to three points with a 6-1 victory against Stonehaven Ladies, while Westdyke Ladies were beaten 3-1 by East Fife.

Dunfermlin­e Athletic won 11-0 against Deveronval­e Ladies.

In SWFL Division 2 – North/East, Granite City Ladies were beaten 14-0 by league leaders Dryburgh Athletic.

Buchan Youth opened up a six-point gap on the side immediatel­y below them in the table with a 3-1 home victory against Forfar Farmington Youth, while East Fife Developmen­t were 3-0 winners against Moray.

In the Highlands and Islands League, Clachnacud­din Women won 4-2 against Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s developmen­t team at Grant Street Park, while Lewis and Harris Women’s FC defeated Caithness Ladies 11-0.
