Second Scratch League in a row for Nairn
Nairn Golf Club won the Moray and Nairn Scratch League for the second year in a row with a very strong showing over the Nairn Dunbar links at the weekend.
Nairn, with a strong contingent of youth on their side, won all their games, with their first game against Forres perhaps their toughest test.
Team captain Fraser Fotheringham said: “We are delighted to win the league again this year.
“It’s always a tough competition to win and having so many great young players coming through is looking good for us and golf in the north in the future.”
Nairn, Nairn Dunbar, Moray, Forres and Elgin take part in the fiveteam league, which was first competed for in 1948.

Macpherson of Moray Golf Club has stepped down from the post of chairman after 17 years.
Macpherson played in the league for a number of years and was part of the winning Moray side in 1994.
He said: “The Moray and Nairn Golf League has been a great competition for golf locally with many young league players going on to win international honours.
“We are delighted the league goes from strength to strength and it’s been a pleasure to take part and subsequently help out over the last 17 years.”
George Asher has taken over as chairman and Robert McKerron from Forres Golf Club is chairman-elect.
League secretary Stevie Grant said: “James has been a great servant to the League over the last 17 years so we wish him well.”
